How Verse updates on Windows and macOS, where to see your version number, what to do if an update does not download, and how to install a new version by hand.

Verse checks for updates every time it starts. On Windows, the new version installs by itself. On macOS, Verse downloads the installer and asks you to replace the app. Your data stays after an update.

How to see your version

The version number is in the top-left corner of the window, under the VERSE logo. To see what changed in each version, open the changelog.

How to update Verse on Windows

  1. Open Verse. If there is a new version, you see "Update Available". The download starts by itself.
  2. Wait for "A new version is being downloaded and will be installed automatically."
  3. Wait a few seconds. Verse installs the update and restarts.

How to update Verse on macOS

  1. Open Verse. If there is a new version, Verse downloads the installer to the Downloads folder. It is the right one for your Mac.
  2. You see "Update downloaded to Downloads". Verse opens the installer and closes.
  3. Drag the Verse icon to Applications.
  4. Choose Replace.
  5. Open Verse from Applications.

Sometimes macOS blocks Verse again after an update. Then allow it the same way as when you installed it:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Click "Open Anyway".

If the update does not download

Verse tries to download the update several times. If it does not work, you see "Update problem" or "Download problem".

  1. Check your internet.
  2. Restart Verse. The download starts again.
  3. If that does not help, turn your VPN on or off. Then restart Verse again.
  4. If the update still does not download, install the new version by hand. See the steps below.

How to install a new version by hand

You can install the new version over the old one. You do not need to remove Verse. Your accounts, contact list (CRM), history and settings stay.

  1. Download the installer. You can find it on Download Verse and in Dashboard → Downloads. You can also get it with the "Download software" button in the Verse Telegram bot.
  2. Quit Verse.
  3. Install the new version. On a Mac, drag it to Applications and replace the old one. On Windows, run the installer.

If the new version has errors

Restart Verse. Some changes only work after a restart.

If the error is still there, write to support:

  1. Open Logs. Logs are notes about what Verse did.
  2. Copy the logs.
  3. Write to support on Telegram at @versemgmt or at [email protected].
  4. Add the logs. Give the version from the top-left corner and your system.
