Verse only works with a valid license key. This is a code that turns on the app for your plan. The key is linked to the computer where you first enter it.

This article shows where to get the key, how to enter it and what to do when you change computers.

The license key

A key looks like this: KEY-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Your plan and the end date are stored on the Verse server. The app checks your key with this server.

Where to find your key:

  • in your dashboard on the website. Open License and pick the license. Next to "License key", click Show or Copy;
  • in the Verse Telegram bot. The bot sends the key to the chat after you pay or ask for a trial.

How to turn on Verse

  1. Open Verse. If there is no license, you see the Activate Bot screen.
  2. Paste the key into the KEY-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX field.
  3. Click Verify & Start App.
  4. Wait for "License verified successfully!". Then the main screen opens.

Sometimes you need to enter a different key. For example, after you buy a new plan. Open Settings → Account → License and activation. There you also see your plan and subscription status.

HWID is the ID number of your computer. Verse uses it to know which computer the key works on.

The activation screen has a Your Hardware ID (HWID) block. Click the eye button to see the ID. You can copy it.

When you enter the key for the first time, it remembers the HWID. After that, the key works only on this computer.

You need the HWID in two cases:

  • you get a trial key with Get Trial Key (7 days). Verse sends the HWID to the bot by itself;
  • support asks for it to find your license.

You can get the trial once per account and once per device. You cannot get it again on the same computer.

Maybe you changed computers or reinstalled the system. And Verse does not accept the key. Then unlink the old computer in your dashboard.

  1. Open Dashboard → License.
  2. Pick the license under "Your licenses".
  3. In Activated devices, click Unbind this license's devices.
  4. Confirm.
  5. Enter the key on the new computer. The key links to it.

You cannot unlink computers too often. If the button does not work, you see a date below it. From that date you can unlink again.

You can also unlink computers in the Verse Telegram bot, in its devices section.

License statuses

In the dashboard, each license has a status and an end date ("Expires"):

StatusWhat it means
ActiveThe key works
ExpiredThe paid period is over. Renew your subscription. See Payment and renewal
Inactive, Disabled, RevokedThe key does not work right now. For example, after a refund. Write to support

If the Verse server does not answer

Verse checks the key on the server. If there is no connection, the app keeps working. It uses the last check that worked.

You see "License server is unavailable. Continuing with the last successful check." In Settings, the subscription line says "offline verification".

Most often a VPN or the network blocks the check. Turn off the VPN or change it. Try another network and restart Verse.

How to move Verse to a new computer

  1. On the old computer, open Settings → Data.
  2. Click Export Backup and save the ZIP file. A backup is a file with a copy of your Verse data.
  3. Install Verse on the new computer. See Install Verse.
  4. Unlink the old computer in your dashboard, as shown above.
  5. Enter the same key on the new computer.
  6. Open Settings → Data → Import Backup and pick the saved file. Verse restarts with your data.

The backup does not include the key or the plan. You always enter the key again. To see what else does not move, read Backup and data.
